About David W. Collier

I am a professional photographer with over 25 years of experience. I started shooting 35mm film and became highly proficient in the darkroom, processing and printing my own work. I now primarily shoot digital, do all my own digital editing and retouching, and can print quality enlargements up to 13" x 19" in my own lab, and larger formats commercially.

I specialize in portraits and head-shots, outdoor landscapes, glamour, and creative and artistic expression.  I am available for all types of assignments and select events, and even occasionally will shoot a wedding.

I love to take pictures. Paradoxically, I do NOT like to have my picture taken. I suspect that my enthusiasm for my "work" is contagious, and as a result I've been told I'm very easy and fun to work with. My sense of humor has proven invaluable in boosting the trust and comfort level of inexperienced models with the ever-popular (but always discreet) private and commercial glamour, lingerie and nude photography shoots.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and finally back "home" to California.  I have an artistic and musical background that includes sketching and painting, and playing piano and drums.  I love opera and classical music and have a passionate appreciation (and extensive collection) of fine wine, but also love classic and alternative rock, and ride and build custom Harley-Davidson motorcyles. I love to play and teach tennis, but am a horrible golfer, although I can swear with the best of them.

In "real life" I have a degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA., and find that I am using my formal education less and less...
